Chip Burton, founder of Top Shelf Car Wash, is a serial entrepreneur who has launched businesses around the county and promotes Deltona as a great place to locate a business.
"I've been an entrepreneur since I was 19," he said. "Circumstances resulted in me running the family grocery store business. We sold that and I went off to college. After college, I started a construction business. Then I got into the marina business before launching a real estate development firm. After that, I opened my car wash business."
Burton has five Top Shelf Car Wash locations. Each provides a full slate of vehicle-care services, starting with its basic value proposition which is a $6 dry exterior car wash with free self-vacuuming, and runs the gamut all the way to complete interior and exterior detailing services.
"Our competitive advantage is the professional level of our facility, equipment and service team," he explained. "It's state of the art, safe, and the process takes very little time whether we're busy or not. We offer our unlimited wash club program where for $19 per month you can wash your car as often as you want."
Burton's advice for aspiring entrepreneurs is to be stay involved in customer interaction so you can place the appropriate emphasis on customer service.
"Don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty and your feet wet," he said. "Have a commitment to excellence and you have to remember the customer is the person who is paying the bills so you've got to treat them accordingly."
