Cindy Dalecki, founder of Marketing 2 Go, knew exactly what she was going to do after 20 years in corporate America when the Daytona Beach News-Journal laid her off in the last round of cuts. "I had business cards printed up that very week," she said. "I had been managing the social media accounts of a few local non-profits for free and business owners had started to take notice. They began asking me if I could do the same for them for a fee. I had relationships with many business owners in town already so it was easy to call them to discuss the benefits of social media marketing."
Since then, Marketing 2 Go has grown to 6 employees and added on services like public relations and content generation. "What makes us different is that we offer the personal touch to our clients," Dalecki said. "We call it 'local social' because we're in town to attend the events that you are attending, capture photos of you in action, and promote things in real time. Another benefit to our local clients is the ability to capture video testimonials from your clients - testimonials are considered one of the most effective content marketing tactics."
Dalecki's advice for aspiring entrepreneurs is that passion makes all the difference. "Do something you're passionate about," she said. "It's not work to me because it's fun. Do something that is fun for you. That is only way you'll be all in. You eat, sleep and breathe your company and in the beginning there's little sleep."
