Felix Nystrom, co-founder of infoPresence, discovered the opportunity to launch his business while on vacation.
"I am Swedish and used to come to Florida on holiday," he said. "My wife and I were surprised at the lack of business websites and social media presence in the area. As tourists, it was frustrating that there was a restaurant in front of us but it wasn’t online. I saw this as a great opportunity to help local businesses gain more business. I worked at a global marketing and advertising company doing analytics and I have a degree in .net development so I leveraged those complimentary skill sets to launch this business with my old friend and business partner Tage Tateman."
infoPresence is a full-service, online media agency that does everything from web design and development to social media ads including Google Analytics and pay-per-click advertising.
"Our specialty is analytics and data-driven marketing," Nystrom explained. "Our differentiator is that we work together with our customers as trusted advisors so they get more value for their ad dollars. Most agencies don’t seem to use analytics, and if they do, they just count visitors. We create sales funnels and conversion goals which all decisions are based on. We track everything from ads to social media and can differentiate which channels and messages are working to generate leads."
Nystrom's advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is that it takes preparation and commitment.
"Be prepared for a tough start," he said. "It will take a lot of time and commitment to become profitable. Save up some money or make sure you have a backup because it will take longer than you expect. It's a mixture of being fun and scary at the same time."
