What is your company description and what makes your company unique?
How did you get into entrepreneurship?
After 30+ years in the public service industry, I decided to share my passion by helping others. Often working as an employee my employer didn't recognize nor solicit out-of-the-box thinking. However, many colleagues recognized the need for innovation and changes. Therefore, I retired and immediately started building my company. Our ramp up process to accomplish a project is designed to empower clients team confidence. Our staff and associates have served in mid & senior executive positions both public and private industries. Our consultant's are carefully vetted and considered "best in class."
Why do you do what you do?
I enjoy meeting and helping people while also sharing and learning in the mobility community. Fleet-Wi$e was started as a group of multidisciplinary, consulting engineers and specialists providing engineering and technical services. We had a strong focus on safety, sustainability and innovation. Our team members have extensive experience managing vehicle fleets and facility operations. Our team spent decades as federal & commercial fleet and facility professionals. We understand the day-to-day challenges of operating a vehicle fleet and maintaining facilities in the U.S. and foreign countries and the responsibility of providing secured, dependable and functional logistics and quality facility management in peaceful & difficult environments.
What tools, resources or books have you used to start and/or grow your business?
As a small business provider of infrastructure management consulting and engineering support services worldwide, we draw from collective U.S. and international experience spanning individual, corporate and government clients. Our staff and associates have education / degrees in logistics, engineering, project management, automotive technology, and certifications such as Federal Fleet Manager, Federal Fleet Administrator, Federal Fleet Specialist, Industrial Engineer. and Logistician. Our company also is a certified Veteran-Owned Disabled-Veteran Small Business by the U.S. Veterans Administration and a Florida Veteran Owned Business by the State of Florida.
Why did you choose to locate your business in Florida?
As a consultant my goals were to be easily accessible to respond to U.S. and International clients via air, train and car, etc. Lakeland offered that ease of access - Orlando International Airport (appox.1.25 hour from office), Tampa International Airport (approx. 1.50 hour from office), Amtrak (approx. 15 mins from office) etc. Also, Florida is small business friendly and after being the Florida State Manager for five-years I knew a lot of the vehicle fleet managers and had other contacts in Florida. The sunny weather also has been a factor especially since most of my career has been in tropical climates - Bermuda, Hawaii, Philippines, Florida, Middle East, etc.
What advice do you have for other entrepreneurs?
Work at something you simply love doing. I love the automotive industry, its administration, operation and management that is why I am still working. I can't say it any better than Dr. George C. Fraser - "Every job is a self-portrait of the person who does it. Autograph your work with excellence."
How can other entrepreneurs help you?
By collaboration of experience, lessons learned, new ideas, sharing resources, and sometimes just listening. Referrals are good also but not as much as networking and building relationships.
