Jing Zhou, Founder of Interventions Unlimited, which was named one of GrowFL's Companies To Watch for 2016, went to graduate school to study applied behavior analysis to work with children with autism and other learning and behavioral difficulties. She wanted to make a difference for these children and their families. Along the way, she realized she could best accomplish that goal by launching her own business, which she did in 2000.
"I never thought I would be an entrepreneur or business owner," she said. "Prior to launching Interventions Unlimited, I worked in the public schools. I felt I could make much bigger difference by going into private practice. I started with home based services. Strong referrals grew the business so I hired other therapists. We grew based on the demand for our services. We opened a clinic two years later. Then we added our private school Alpine Academy and expanded into other counties around Central Florida."
Interventions Unlimited provides applied behavior analysis services (ABA) for children with autism or other learning and behavioral difficulties in both therapeutic settings and at its private school. The teaching method is entirely based on applied behavior analysis to teach children the skills they need to be a success.
"What's unique about us is we have a combination of school, clinic and home and community based services providing a well rounded support system for our families," Zhou said. "Our competitive advantage was established through the superior quality of care we offer to the children and families we serve."
Zhou is surprised and honored that her company was recognized by GrowFL as a Company To Watch. "We are very proud to be a winner of the Florida Companies to Watch Award," she said. " Our team is thankful to be identified as a company that is expected to grow on the strength of our ability to make a difference every day for children with autism or other special needs and their families. We are passionate about our work and feel honored to be recognized.
