Melissa has always had the entrepreneurial spirit and was able to use that energy in her career as a Store Manager for Wal-Mart for 10 years. She helped Wal-Mart open 80 new stores and was responsible for everything from hiring employees to product placement to connecting with customers. However, her true passion has always been helping small business owners be successful.
After leaving Wal-Mart and dealing with the loss of her son, Melissa ventured to California to help her daughter pursue one of her passions – acting. Through hard work and perseverance Melissa was able to get her daughter an acting role in a movie in only 5 months. Next, Melissa and her family came to Flagler County to establish roots. Her calling for helping small businesses led her to launch her own company called WingWoman4Hire.
Through WingWoman4Hire, Melissa serves as a business success coach working with small business owners on financial and business plans, advertising and marketing, networking and social media management. Since launching the company she has built a portfolio of 15 clients. Melissa encourages other entrepreneurs to have more confidence long-term and don’t get stopped by your first hurdle.
She recommends the book ‘Startup Communities’ and the quote “Entrepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people won’t, so that you can spent the rest of your life like most people can’t.” Melissa is so passionate about entrepreneurship and helping others succeed that she gives back to the community as the local organizer for 1 Million Cups in Flagler County, a free entrepreneurship forum to connect and inspire entrepreneurs.
