Mike Davis, partner at Eldredge and Davis, is an accidental entrepreneur who loves to help other entrepreneurs launch their companies through a combination of his professional skill set and his startup experience.
"I didn't plan on launching my own business, I didn't want to at the time I did it. I needed to provide for my family, so I started a business," he said. "I learned everything by the seat of my pants and that has been very beneficial in helping my clients start their businesses."
Davis had been considering striking out on his own from the law firm he previously worked at and was at a meeting exploring just that option when he received a phone call from the managing partner that resulted in them deciding to part ways right then and there.
"I left that meeting, which was on a Wednesday, went to the bank to open a business account and opened my new law practice that Monday," he explained. "I focus on business/contract law, estate planning and real estate law. The real crux of my business is transactional law. I read and create contracts, find holes in them and protect my clients."
Since launching, Davis has partnered with David Eldredge to create Eldredge and Davis which will maintain its practice area focus and allow the two to concentrate solely on transactional work. "My motto is accessible legal counsel – we're reasonably priced and approachable and speak without using legalese," he said. "I've had many clients who like that. A significant differentiator in Flagler is my youth. I have the drive and willingness to take cases that others wouldn't because I had to grow my business. There are also younger people returning to Flagler and since I am younger and on the cutting edge of trends, it puts me ahead of seasoned attorneys because they haven't evolved with the latest trends."
