Minaz Manekia, co-founder of Right By Your Side Transport, left her senior VP position after a long career with large, international banks to move closer to her children at the University of Central Florida. Little did she know she would end up launching a business with one as a partner.
Right By Your Side (RBYS) specializes in Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) for ambulatory, wheelchair accessible, and stretcher-bound patients. We provide transportation throughout Central Florida between hospitals, doctor’s appointments, assisted living facilities, dialysis, and radiation treatment.
"Since personalized transportation for the sick and elderly was limited in Central Florida, I was eager to start a business and serve the community with my family’s support," Manekia said. "It was imperative that I established a long-term venture whereby my children can continue my legacy. Today, my eldest son is my partner… and who could ask for a better partner?!"
Right By Your Side transports the most precious and delicate group of individuals. "I want to evolve the Non-Emergency Medical Transportation to a white-glove service," she said. "I am applying 20 years of my client experience background from a global company to our daily operations. Furthermore, I am a female owner in a male dominant industry, which empowered me to enter this field. RBYS is recognized for the timeliest and most courteous pick up in Central Florida. We are a mother and son team that is committed to being Right By Our Client’s Side."
Manekia's advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is about mindset, not strategy. "Be patient," she said. "You have to be patient, persistent and love what you're doing. Don't give up. You have to be motivated and to do that, you have to like what you're doing. Surround yourself with people who can motivate you like your supporters."
