Pablo Prahl, founder of Proforma A&G Marketing Group, moved to the United States from Guatemala in 2009 and launched his own business despite the Great Recession.
"The economy was slow with the downturn, but for me it was a good time," he said. "There was a lot of opportunity for me because I received a lot of help from American economic development groups like the Hispanic Business Initiative Fund (now Prospera), SCORE, and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in Orlando."
Prahl is grateful for Prospera's assistance with his business plan, marketing plan and Quickbooks. "They were a great source," he said. "For me it was important to complete a marketing plan even though we do marketing because it was a plan on how to do business in the U.S.. I'm from Guatemala and when I moved, it was difficult for me to understand the different culture here."
Prahl's firm is a marketing service provider that helps clients with everything from branding to graphic design. It assists clients in executing promotional campaigns and developing corporate gifts and printed material and apparel.
"We have two differentiators," Prahl explained. "We are a local company growing in a local market yet we have backup from the Proforma corporate office that helps me out giving local businesses the top products in print, promo, apparel and multimedia marketing. The other thing is we are the one-stop-shop for our clients who love saving time and resources by using one provider to satisfy all their needs. We can be their marketing department without extending their payroll."
