The Charlotte County Economic Development Office provides services to help existing and new incoming businesses develop community and business partnerships, streamline permitting issues, locate sites or buildings, develop relationships with universities, and connect to workforce programs.

The main reason is to keep the lines of communication open between the public and private sectors to build strong community relationships for the advancement of local business. For this purpose, Charlotte County, has developed a dynamic Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) Program that promotes job growth by helping companies with their business concerns, and assisting them to achieve business success.

In the short term the BRE program provides community support for local businesses; solves immediate individual business concerns; and complies an inventory of existing businesses with contact information. In the long term the BRE program improves the competitiveness of local businesses; and establishes and implements a strategic plan of action for business growth.
