Since January 2015, Stanley and Michelle Arel, husband and wife and owners of Dance with Me DJ Service, have provided family-friendly and affordable entertainment for weddings, parties, fundraisers, corporate events and more. With services that include DJ, emcee and photo booth rentals, they provide an array of entertainment options designed to turn your special moments into treasured memories while delivering unparalleled customer service.
Stanley shared the story behind his entrepreneurial journey and how he and Michelle are channeling their efforts to build Dance with Me DJ Service and their recently founded non-profit.
“I’m originally from Massachusetts, but relocated to Florida in 2009,” Stanley said. “Up until three years ago, I worked full-time as a custodian for the Volusia County School board. During that time, I started providing DJ services for weddings as a side job. I’ve always been very musical and I love to play different instruments. In 2016, when the school board decided to subcontract out the work I was doing, I read the writing on the wall. That’s when I left and went full-time on the business.”
Before working the business with Stanley, Michelle cleaned houses and worked as a stay at home mom. Now that both of their efforts are entirely focused on building the business, they’re intent on becoming the premier DJ and emcee entertainment service throughout Central Florida and beyond.
“When it comes to growth, the amount of DJs out there is certainly a challenge of ours,” Stanley said. “However, we do much more than just DJ events. Most people don’t realize that a good DJ should coordinate everything. We communicate with the photographer, caterer and other vendors. In most cases, we’re also serving as emcee.”
Stanley continued, “We’re also really good at doing weddings. Some DJs can’t do weddings. They’re either not good emcees or they’re not organized. As a licensed and insured entertainment provider, we create an organized song list and provide paperwork that allows us to help the bride and groom better prepare for their big day.”
In addition to DJ services, Stanley and Michelle, who are affectionately referred to as Stan the DJ Man and DJ Chell, also rent out photo booths and partner with a top-notch photographer to provide bundled services. Consistent and happy customers include organizations like Luna Sands Resort in Orange City, St. Peter’s Catholic School in DeLand and Tomoka Christian Church in Ormond Beach. Dance with Me DJ Service is also certified to provide services to public schools throughout the state. To date, they’ve done work with elementary, middle and private Christian schools.
Stanley and Michelle, who both thoroughly enjoy seeing people entertained and the stress of a big event relieved, are also in the middle of building out a newly formed non-profit.
Stanley explained, “It’s called Christine’s Blankets. Michelle’s mom was homeless and was fatally stabbed in the middle of the night while sleeping on a park bench in DeLand. She was killed by another homeless person over her blanket. We started the non-profit as a way to honor Michelle’s mom and to make sure something like that never happens again. We collect blankets, put a tag on them with a scripture and then deliver to those in need. A portion of our earnings through Dance with Me DJ Service will go towards Christine’s Blankets.”
Looking ahead, Stanley and Michelle are focused on growth and building a sustainable business that allows them to use their services to make a good living and to support charities and local fundraisers.
Stanley, whose business is focused on serving others, has some great advice for aspiring entrepreneurs. “Use your talents and business to serve others not just to make money.”
